Beer BuddiesThe Deep Water Grille and The Alley are both located in the historic L.C. Willmarth downtown building along with our pilot brewery. They do the food, we do the beer. Both restaurants have an enjoyable atmosphere, unique and creative cuisine for all appetites, and menu choices that creatively use our beers: Beer Cheese Soup (Nut Brown Ale), Pale Ale Onion Soup, Braised Onions and Poultry Marinade (Pale Ale), and our homemade Apple BBQ sauce. HistoryIn April of 2000, a fire in our original home, The Depot, forced the South Shore Brewery to close. After a brief search, the we found the historic brick and brownstone building in which we are now located. The brewery has gone through multiple expansions over the years. Besides our beer being available in the two restaurants that share our Ashland home, our beer is also available throughout Wisconsin, Michigan, and Minnesota. Our brewery is dedicated to producing flavorful, innovative products that use the best of traditional techniques and taps the resources of originality from its professional staff. Throughout the years, our beer production as expanded, and with it our footprint. We moved the production side of the business over the bay into Washburn, WI where we operate our production & packaging facility, brewery tours, and our Taphouse.
